The Welsh Tanahanner presents their second album Obedience bringing us carefully crafted dark folk reminiscent of the World Serpent distribution era London scene as well as a crooner tradition. The atmosphere conjures the feeling of soft snow fall in the yule tide and birds on the windowsill in spring. The songs are simple and elegant, intimate yet enveloping. The lyrics are incisive and catchy with a wry sense of humour. In addition to the exotica percussion, arpeggiated,guitar riffs, and loungy bass lines, the accordion and synthesizer accompaniment by guest Miro Snejdr adds a nostalgic cafe romance. Mixed at Dusk Century in the tradition of Absinthe this album will satisfy anyone with refined taste and a touch of the tannic sinister.
