Godkiller 成立于 1993 年，来自摩纳哥，是多乐器演奏家兼唯一创始成员 Duke Satanaël 的愿景，他在 1996 年至 2000 年间以 Godkiller 的名义发行了一张 EP 和两张录音室专辑。尽管最初在形成期更像是一个受死亡金属启发的乐队，但 Godkiller 很快发展成为一个完全沉浸在 1990 年代黑金属精神中的项目，让人想起 Emperor 和 Satyricon 等乐队。

Formed in 1993 and hailing from Monaco, Godkiller was the vision of multi-instrumentalist & sole founding member, Duke Satanaël, who between 1996 and 2000 released an EP and 2 studio albums under the Godkiller name, commencing with the black metal cult classic debut 'The Rebirth of the Middle Ages'.

Though initially more a death metal inspired act in the formative years, Godkiller quickly developed into a project fully engulfed in the spirit of 1990s black metal, bringing to mind acts like Emperor and Satyricon for the implementation of such strong atmospherics, though on later releases Godkiller incorporated more industrial and electronic elements into the compositions as part of its creative evolution.

‘The End of the World’ was launched in 1998 following a great reception to ‘The Rebirth of the Middle Ages’, and though the dark, often philosophical themes & strong atmospherics remained, the album already marked a clear progression in the songwriting department, with effective, often hook-laden tracks & more immediate riffing permeating the release, amid the implementation of a number of more experimental ideas helping to assert the overall individuality of the opus.

This edition of 'The End of the World' is presented on CD for the first time since its original 1998 release, including booklet with full lyrics and with the tracks remastered by Duke himself.
